Ta taaaa! They’re finally here! The unique color preview for kitchens, furniture and interior design 2026-2027. As a result of our trend research, we have been asked for many years by our TRENDREPORT audience to put colour codes behind our trend preview. Katrin de Louw has been working intensively on this for the last 2 months and now we proudly present our highly attractive colour preview for (not only) european furniture design!

Milan, Paris, London, Copenhagen, Cologne, Munich, Stockholm… we have been watching the European furniture fairs and beyond for years and, with 28 years of experience in the development of furniture surfaces, we have not only proven to have an excellent nose for trends, but also a fine hand for the exact colour
Of course, we also research international fashion trends, life style and architectural trends and evaluate them for our furniture sector. Does the colour work on a piece of furniture or is it too strong, too colourful or too dark? How does the colour go with current woods, stones, ceramics and trendy metal colours? Does it fit in with modern material trends or is this fashionable colour not for timeless interiors? We believe that we at ‘TRENDFILTER- designzukunft für moebel und materialien’ – have been providing unique expertise in this area since 1997 (!).

“We look around at trade fairs just as we do in other sectors to discover colour trends. But a piece of furniture, a kitchen or an interior made of wood-based materials or textiles has its own laws that it has to follow. Room and colour psychology also play a major role here. Surfaces are not really arbitrary either. There is a ‘perfect’ surface texture for almost all colour schemes, which meaningfully underlines the appearance of the colour,” explains Katrin de Louw, interior designer and leading furniture trend expert for many years. “We have a whole range of calm, natural colours in our selection of 24 colours here that also work well on large surfaces. 2-3 stronger colours have crept in – for smaller furniture or as statement furniture in the shop window!”
The colours in our selection are by no means short-lived trend or fashion colours. This has no place in interior design and clearly distinguishes our colour selection from other trend forecasts. Most of them will also be seen in 2026 and beyond.

We would like to thank our friends and colleagues from the fields of trend scouting and design, with whom we are able to exchange ideas and with whom we also discuss these colours! And last but not least, the experts at COLORNERTWORK, who continue to enrich our colour trend research.
‘I personally selected the corresponding colour codes with great care,’ says Katrin de Louw, “a job that I have already done for many industrial manufacturers. But to finally do this for my own furniture forecast is something special and a lot of fun”.
