Who wants to belong to the “old iron”? And be housed in questionable homes in old age? The renowned designer Irmy Wilms-Haverkamp rightly demands a new way of thinking for the interior of the “Silver Society” and enriches our event with her keynote on June 15 in Bünde.

Irmy Wilms-Haverkamp (*1961) loves interdisciplinary projects, thinking outside the box. Her leitmotifs are the power of innovation, aesthetics and humanity.

Together with Claudia Köhler, she has been developing products for more than 30 years, including quite a few bestsellers and award-winning designs for a wide range of industries and clients such as Hettich, WMF, Wineo, Auping, etc.. These works are conceptual in nature rather than driven by a particular style. As a team member of Haverkamp Interior Design, she has been gaining experience in interior projects for more than 20 years, including numerous in China. The designer is a juror in international design competitions.

She owes her expertise in trends, values & styles and brand positioning to her collaboration (1998-2012) with de Bock & Dekker, NL. Irmy taught for five years at UDK Berlin, where she previously graduated with a degree in Industrial Design.

Accompanying very old relatives led to completely new insights, also about her own age. Her latest and very personal interest is therefore the topic of “Silver Society”. The designer considers the general idea of “old age” to be outdated and is convinced that architecture, design and technology are important factors for the success of demographic change towards an innovative, sustainable society.
